No fooling! Something new’s coming Friday night (April 1) to a handful of downtown Santa Rosa taverns.

It’s Pubs & Roses, a brilliant idea by the people working to take our Luther Burbank Rose Parade to the next level. They’re encouraging folks to dress down in overalls, boots or other country duds and join the fun that starts at 6 p.m. at the Belvedere, on Mendocino Avenue just north of College Avenue.

Ten bucks will get you a wristband that will entitle you to drink specials at the Belvedere’s bar. Pub-crawlers can then move on to the Chrome Lotus at 7 p.m., Stout Brothers at 8 and Christy’s on the Square at 9. A wristband can be purchased at any location.

It will makeĀ for a festive April 1 and it’ll generate a few bucks for the Rose Parade (2011 theme, ‘Rose Town Hoedown’) that will blossom downtown on May 21.
